Provost Skene's House
Dating from 1545, the oldest surviving townhouse in Aberdeen celebrates the pioneering people of Aberdeen and the North-East of Scotland who have not only shaped but transformed the world. Ten themed displays are full of fascinating facts to read, listen to and interact with.
Please note Provost Skene's House is closed and will reopen on Saturday 28 March 2026.
Old Aberdeen
Discover the old parts of the city with various walking tours. From the 14th century, St Machar’s Cathedral to the mysterious and historical Kings College, the architecture and vast history is not to be missed. Aberdeen Countryside Rangers
Seabird Walking Tour Take a walk along part of Aberdeen’s North Sea Trail south of the city centre, with an official Countryside Ranger. Walk along the rugged coastline from the quaint suburb of Cove back towards the South Harbour. Along the way see how many varieties of seabird clients can spot such as razorbills, kittiwakes or gannets, and keep an eye out for our resident bottlenose dolphins.

Brig O’ Balgownie
On the edge of Old Aberdeen resides a mysterious and majestic 13th century bridge which is said to have been completed by Robert the Bruce. It is a peaceful walk along the side of the River Don and has been the inspiration for many poems and songs over the years.
Did you know?
Throughout Aberdeen you will see references to Leopards, most notably a large sculpture in Marischal Square. Legend has it, two leopards were gifted to the city as a thanks for Aberdeen underwriting the expenses King James I incurred whilst in captivity during the 16th century.
Aberdeen Harbour
The historical harbour is known for many things such as fishing, oil and transport to the islands. Torry Battery is the perfect viewpoint to enjoy stunning panoramic views and keep an eye out for the large dolphin pod which is often spotted.
