Discover the storytelling traditions of Aberdeenshire, including the use of the unique Doric language. Hear the folklore, myths, and legends passed down through generations in the impressive setting of Dunnottar Castle an iconic medieval fortress, perched on cliffs overlooking the North Sea.
Meet your guide at Dunnottar Castle car park and enjoy a walk to the castle while taking in the incredible coastal views.
Accessibility
From the car park, the cliff top is reached by walking approx. 300m along a relatively flat earth path
The castle can be viewed from the path
The main entrance to the castle is accessed from the cliff top via 180 concrete steps followed by approx. 40m of earth path and 38 uneven steps up to the entrance door.

Stop 1: Dunnottar Castle
Hear the folklore, myths, and legends passed down through generations in the impressive setting of Dunnottar Castle, an iconic medieval fortress, perched on cliffs overlooking the North Sea.
Stop 2: Johnshaven Fishing Village
A picturesque fishing village with traditional stone cottages where stories of fishermen, net-making and weaving were told.
Stop 3: Stonehaven
Conclude your tour with a stroll around its harbour and beachfront with stunning sea views. Stonehaven was a key hub for trade and fishing and is famous for its Fireball Festival at New Year.

This programme offers your clients access into environmental projects and areas of outstanding natural beauty whilst highlighting animal welfare and environmental sustainability. Explore a different side of Scotland’s culture through the discovery of nature reserves, Highland cattle farms, dolphin sanctuaries, guided coastal walks and the Cairngorms.
Day 1: Montrose Wildlife Basin: Conservation work at basin which is home to 80,000 migratory birds and seals with the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
Day 2: Highland Beef Farm: Tour of farming process, rearing cattle and producing beef to high ethical and environmental standards. Dolphin Watch Aberdeen: A focus on animal welfare in tourism Dolphin watch.
Day 3: Glentanar Estate hike in the Cairngorms National Park: A focus on sustainability/eco-tourism whilst spotting deer, ospreys and red squirrels in Royal Deeside. Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve: Guided walk of kettle hole and Loch Kinnord with focus on managing habitats & conservation work with NatureScot.
Day 4: A Farming Museum with a focus on protecting trees and woods, visiting woods and planting trees at Aden Country Park with Woodland Trust.
Day 5: Bushcraft Learn: wilderness survival skills – shelter building, protection from the elements, fire lighting and management, water collection and purification with Sup2Summit. Guided Coastal Walk St. Cyrus National Nature Reserve: Focus on dune management and sustainability plus wind farms and renewable energy with NatureScot.

An immersive experience for groups to discover Scotland's unique natural and cultural heritage with the opportunity to connect with local people. From a tour of one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries to attending a mini-Highland games and traditional Scottish ceilidh, this programme will give you a feel for what Scotland is really like.
Day 1: Get aqcuainted with the North-east Scotland's dramatic coastlines with a guided visit of Dunnottar Castle. Full of mystery and intrigue, Dunnottar is where William Wallace defeated the English and the Scottish crown jewels were hidden.
Day 2: A day of discovery in Dundee. Visit the V&A Museum Scottish Design Museum with a tour focused on Scottish games design, fashion, architecture and product design V&A Dundee. Next up, RRS Discovery Guided Visit: The story of the iconic ship ‘Discovery’ and her amazing Antarctic expedition.
Day 3: Mingle with the locals in coastal town, Stonehaven. Mini Highland Games: Haggis Spoon Race, Rolling Haggis, Welly Wang, Tug O’ War, Tossing Caber). Traditional Scottish Ceilidh: guests will learn Highland Dancing with a qualified dance teacher and have a go at playing bagpipes. Haggis, Neeps and Tatties An evening to taste and savour Scottish local food.
Day 4: Discover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Visit Gordon Highlanders Museum and discover the story of the best regiment in the world and dress up as Highlander. Then venture into the mountains with a hike in the Cairngorms National Park to discover deer, otters and ancient woodland of Mar Lodge Estate.
Day 5: Excursion to Elgin. Johnstons of Elgin: Discover the ancient craft of tweed, tartan and cashmere weaving. Elgin Cathedral Guided tour of one of Scotland’s most ambitious and medieval buildings. Speyside Cooperage: Discover the ancient craft of the cooper Speyside Cooperage.
Day 6: Visit of a Local Distillery i.e. Glen Garioch or Arbikie on your final day.
