Choose from three bookable experiences and in the company of an expert Countryside Ranger explore the best of the Granite City’s countryside and wildlife, including spots known and loved by local people.

Take a walk along part of Aberdeen's North Sea Trail south of the city centre, with an official Countryside Ranger. Walk along the rugged coastline from the quaint suburb of Cove back towards the South harbour (distance and starting point can be tailored to suit your clients’ needs). Along the way see how many varieties of seabird you can spot such as razorbills, kittiwakes and gannets and keep an eye out for our resident bottlenose dolphins.
For an enhanced experience please bring your own binoculars.
Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes.
Please note, the trail is 4 miles long and covers some uneven ground and steep slopes.

Enjoy a guided tour of the rich and varied wildlife living on the grassland, heathland and woodland of Aberdeen’s Tullos Hill, a favourite walking spot for local people. In the company of a Countryside Ranger get up close to some of the hill’s smallest residents and discover the diversity of invertebrates that call North East Scotland home, including the delicate peacock butterfly and the fierce devil’s coachman beetle. If your clients have more time, this experience can also take place at Elrick Hill, a more rural location, but a true highlight of Aberdeen’s spectacular countryside.

Join our Countryside Rangers after dark and delve into the nocturnal world of bats and moths. Use specialised detectors to listen to the otherwise inaudible clicks and calls of the hunting bats native to North East Scotland. Armed with sugar and light traps learn about all the amazing adaptations moths possess to survive in a world without light. Aberdeen’s Tullos Hill, a favourite walking spot for local people is the prime location for this experience. This experience can also take place at Elrick Hill, a more rural location, but a true highlight of Aberdeen’s spectacular countryside.
