Lickleyhead Castle

Lickleyhead Castle is a 16th century grade A listed building in the heart of Aberdeenshire. We provide accommodation to large groups and also host weddings or other events. The entirety of the building is exclusively available to paying guests. We have 8 bedrooms and can sleep 16 in comfort, 18 max. If your party isn't large enough for the whole building, you could take a single wing. The West Wing has 6 bedrooms, the East Wing has 2 bedrooms. In addition to bedrooms, the property features nine bathrooms/washrooms, a dining room, a large kitchen, a music room, a games' room, a living room and the cavernous great hall amongst others. There are three usable fireplaces, a grand piano, a pool table, a library and a complementary few drams of whisky for those staying in the laird's room.

For couples looking to the tie the knot, we are best set up to deliver micro-weddings of up to 30 people. We specialise in destination weddings, renewing vows and elopements but we will do our best to assist with your needs. Of course, you would have the option of staying at the castle for a night or two either side of the big day.

Guests at Lickleyhead Castle can play golf for free at nearby Insch Golf Course! This is unlimited but only 6 guests can play for free at any one time and it must be booked in advance. The seventh guest and up (playing at the same time) will pay half price (£15). Discounts at other golf courses affiliated with Insch across Aberdeenshire. Must also be booked. The exterior of Lickleyhead is breath-taking: the castle is surrounded on three sides by flowing water from the fore and back burns and a woodland that has been allowed to grow for at least a couple of centuries. Wildlife can frequently be viewed from the windows, be it red squirrels or eagles, which this writer has personally seen landing on a trampoline for children. There is ample parking on the wide driveway.
