Right on the shore of the internationally renowned Moray Firth coast, the newly created Sail Loft is a self-catering accommodation facility offering 25 luxurious beds and bunks. It features a modern open-plan communal kitchen, dining area and lounge, laundrette, drying room, secure cycle storage, and wash-down area. Recently, it was awarded the 4 Hostel award by VisitScotland*.Overlooking Portsoy’s beautiful Links Bay beach and surrounded by rugged headlands, it’s an ideal location to escape, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Guests can take strolls by the sea, invigorating walks or cycle rides along the Banffshire coastline, and may spot local wildlife such as leaping dolphins and diving gannets. Visitors can also explore Portsoy Harbour, dating back to 1693, and the scenic Loch Soy. For those looking to learn new skills, facilities are available for courses in boat building, traditional music, and storytelling.As dusk falls, enjoy stunning sunsets and star-lit skies, with the chance to see the Northern Lights. The Sail Loft’s walled garden includes BBQ facilities and a hot tub, perfect for relaxing.Comfort and rest are a priority, with high-quality mattresses supplied by Glencraft in Aberdeen, well-insulated walls for peaceful sleep, and optional gentle sea sounds from open windows. Bed linen is provided, with towels available at a reasonable cost. All bunks and beds have individual reading lights, sockets, and secure lockers suitable for mobile devices, tablets, cameras, and more. Beds can be configured as singles or doubles, and cots are available for visiting families.Separate modern male and female toilets and showers with ample hot water are near the bedrooms. An accessible single bedroom with adjoining toilet and shower is also available.
