Accessible from Aberdeen and ideally placed for touring

Located in the village of Premnay, approximately twenty miles from Aberdeen Airport, Lickleyhead Castle sits at the start of the whisky trail and lies within easy reach of world class golf courses.

Peaceful retreat with home comforts

The venue is suitable for groups of up to sixteen people assuming two people to a room, but does not cater to FIT as the entire building must be taken and individual rooms are not bookable. There are eight bedrooms in total, four of which have en suite bathrooms. There are numerous living spaces: kitchen, games room, living room, piano room, dining room seating up to twenty four, great hall with an open fire and drinks preparation area. Guests are able to access all parts of the castle at any hour. The kitchen is usable by guests and comes fully equipped with cooking equipment and crockery etc. We provide sheets, blankets, towels, shampoo, hand soap, body wash, tea and coffee, salt and pepper, kitchen essentials such as dishwashing tablets, firewood, and a dram of whisky, sherry and port for our guests.

Private grounds and bookable experiences

The castle has eleven acres of grounds to explore and backs onto the Bennachie Mountain Range, meaning no roads need be crossed to access the mountain trails. Extras such as whisky tasting, the hot tub and highland games can be arranged with the management.  After a long day hiking, guests can recline in comfortable chairs, the fire roaring in the background and a glass of whisky in hand.

Bookable guest experiences examples

• Whisky Tasting: An experienced instructor will guide you through a five dram tasting of a standard or premium selection of whiskies. Alternatives such as gin or rum are also available. The tasting takes place in our great hall, where drinkers can enjoy a roaring fire in the hearth as their throats burn pleasantly from the spirits!
• Highland Games: A fully qualified instructor will lead participants (split into teams) through a series of 7-9 physical events for which they are scored. The team which accrues the most points is the winner! Events include shot put, caber tossing, barrel rolling and a tug of war. Different weights of equipment are available for men, women and children.
• Archery/air rifle shooting: Targets are set up in the castle's walled garden and a qualified instructor will ensure the safety of participants as they aim to be the best shot. Various competitions such as team shooting are possible. Different sizes of equipment are available to suit various ages and abilities.
