This characterful cottage features a spacious open-plan living area, with furnishings and fabrics throughout that echo the natural features of the landscape.The authentic character of the building is preserved in features such as original doors and even a "glory hole" under-stair cupboard. Historically, it was once the home of Lord Glen Tanar's Butler, who earned £85 a year in 1900, with an additional beer allowance of three shillings and sixpence per week (17.5p). Today, the cottage is heated by the estate’s new biomass heating system and has a charming enclosed garden with a hedge surround and a crab apple tree.Glen Tanar sits within the Cairngorms National Park and offers visitors an exceptional experience of Scotland. Warm, inviting, and authentic, these cottages are graded 4* by VisitScotland and provide the perfect base for exploring Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms. There is a choice of eight self-catering cottages, sleeping from 2 to 11 people.A wide range of activities is available on the estate, including safaris, salmon fishing, trout fishing, and numerous walking and mountain biking routes. The wildlife at Glen Tanar is spectacular, and wildlife photography sessions allow guests to spot species such as Golden Eagles or Red Squirrels.
