About Garioch Heritage Centre
Garioch Heritage Centre is a four-star visitor attraction nestling in rural Aberdeenshire, strategically positioned for easy access via road and rail networks and is located approximately 30 minutes from Aberdeen City. Our site showcases an architecturally acclaimed conversion of a former industrial building, originally part of the Inverurie Locomotive Works which played a key role in the social and economic development of the area. The building's B-listing is recognition of its significance in terms of industrial heritage. It provides a captivating and fully accessible permanent exhibition space where visitors can explore the rich history of the North East of Scotland from the early 20th century to the present day.
The Heritage Centre is suitable for groups and FITs including Special Interest and Educational Groups, offers free general admission and features special exhibitions, creative arts and community initiatives. Visitors can also enjoy our delightful cafe serving tempting homebakes and light lunches.
There is on-site parking for cars and mini-buses and easy access for coach drop off and pick up.
Enrich your visit to Inverurie and the surrounding area
- Inverurie is home to Garioch Heritage Centre and a vibrant commercial sector with a rich variety of independent shops centred in the traditional market place.
- The area is renowned archaeologically for its remarkable number of standing stones and stone circles. One of the most impressive recumbent stone circles from the Neolithic/Bronze Age in Scotland lies just outside Inverurie.
- For whisky enthusiasts, your client's visit to the Heritage Centre can be complemented by a visit to Glen Garioch Distillery in the neighbouring town of Oldmeldrum.
